GZ Pure is the ultimate expedition adventure racing experience. The event is based on the highly successful format of the previous four Chapters of GODZone with unsupported teams travelling approximately 500km across New Zealand's wilderness for up to seven days. The GODZone Pure event represents the most technically challenging adventure race in the World and teams should prepare accordingly. As with previous Chapters of GODZone, teams have limited time to prepare their maps and strategy. Route choice and difficult navigation, along with a whole host of other skills, are critical for success. For those teams who do not make it through the Full Course, a shorter route will expedite them to the finish.

- UNSUPPORTED FORMAT (YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN)

- ENTRIES LIMITED TO 40 TEAMS

APRIL 2ND – APRIL 9TH 2016

GODZone is picking one of the most beautiful places in the World to host Chapter 5. With pre and post-event activities centred around the stunning beach town of Kaiteriteri this edition is sure to appeal to racers, supporters and media alike. Situated at the north end of the South Island of New Zealand, this years Host Location is bounded to the west by the Matiri Ranges, Tasman Mountains and the Tasman Sea. To the north Tasman and Golden Bays form its seaward edge, and the eastern boundary extends to the edge of Nelson city, and includes part of the Spencer Mountains, Saint Arnaud and Richmond Ranges. The landscape is diverse, from large mountainous areas to valleys and is sliced by major rivers like the Buller, Motueka, Aorere, Takaka and Wairoa. The limestone-rich area around Mt Owen and Mt Arthur is notable for its extensive cave networks, among them New Zealand's deepest. There is abundant bush and bird life, golden sand beaches and the unique 40km sands of Farewell Spit. Tasman is home to three national parks: Abel Tasman National Park, Nelson Lakes National Park and Kahurangi National Park. Tasman has produced some of the greatest adventure racers in the history of the sport - most attracted to the high sunshine hours, fantastic climate and the spectacularly varied environment that is on their doorstep. With three National Parks to explore, a magnificent coast line, community love of sport, and high number of local adventure racers, it’s going to be another incredible adventure for everyone involved. "Every stage of next years GODZone will have a very special feel to it. The climate in Tasman is very good, it's typically warm, settled and racers are going to experience a smorgasbord of microenvironments all in one region. What we have here is like no other area with the diversity of rivers, lakes and mountains.” - Nathan Fa'avae

GZ Pursuit is a new event that takes the existing GODZone concept and makes some subtle changes to create an exciting new racing experience and open the door to a wider range of expedition adventure racers. If you've been wondering whether you have what it takes to step up from a 24hr race to GODZone, then this is the event for you. If you want to involve your partner in a support crew role then this is the event for you. If you are unsure of your navigation prowess or would rather fizz through a slightly shorter course then this is the event for you. For some in New Zealand, this event will have a flavour of races of old, with the addition of support crews and a slightly more social feel (in the Transition Areas at least). However, GZ Pursuit retains all the best features of GODZone and is an immense challenge for all.
