WEATHER BLASTS CHAPTER 12 COURSE

The One NZ GODZONE finish line is up in Picton ready to welcome teams but with a forecast of worsening weather conditions over the next 24 hours there are some updates happening around the course that will delay race progress.

Winds are predicted to gust over 80km per hour in places later tonight therefore these details below have been put in place by Race Director Adam Fairmaid and race HQ.

At the front of the field team 55 Kaikoura Under 20s leading Pursuit team has paddled into Te Mahia Bay where they will be held at the Portage until the wind drops – predicted to be in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Any teams arriving at TA8 Kenepuru Head camping ground will be held there until the weather call is lifted.

Teams currently trekking over Mt Stokes will be held on arrival at TA8 at Kenepuru Head Camping Ground.

Team 9 currently paddling the Hikapu Reach are being shadowed by safety boat until they reach the entrance to Kenepuru Sound.

Teams still travelling over the Stage 6 pack raft trek will be held at TA6 on arrival and teams at TA6b are being held there and will not move forward on the course until the next weather call is made.

Teams 7, 11, 01 are continuing on through Crail Bay with the option to walk the trail around the shoreline towards Mt Stokes. They may be held off trekking over Mt Stokes.

Race officials will provide further updates later today.
