Introducing PURE ADVENTURE Charitable Trust member David’ Ginge’ Burnett, who is one of the trustees instrumental in bringing One NZ GODZONE back.
An Invercargill dairy farmer Ginge is well-known for his dedication to the multisport community. In 2024, he was included in the New Year’s Honours list and awarded a King’s Service Medal for his services to multisport. He’s been a member of the Southland Triathlon and Multisport Club for 24 years and was club president from 2005 to 2019.
“It’s important for children and adults to help themselves. Seeing the satisfaction on their faces after completing a triathlon makes it all worthwhile.”
He spearheaded the Southland Summer Challenge, Southland Schools’ Triathlon Championships, Ascot Park Triathlon, Riverton to Zookeepers Race, and the Total Life Kids’ TRYathlon.
Ginge is a proud GODZONER competitor, having raced in Chapter 2 – Mt Cook to Queenstown and Chapter 6 – Queenstown. ” It’s the ultimate adventure race to do here in New Zealand, and a real challenge finishing the full course, which I wanted to tick off.”
He says he’s personally motivated as a PURE ADVENTURE Charitable Trustee to see the return of GODZONE back onto the adventure racing circuit.
“Being part of the trust is a bit of a payback, and helping to provide opportunities for others to experience the world of a multiday adventure race and explore our amazing country is second to none for me. GODZONE is the ultimate challenge for teams to learn more about themselves and see what can be achieved by working together while enjoying the amazing New Zealand backcountry.”
“As an expedition-length race GODZONE offers a breathtaking journey through some of New Zealand’s most spectacular high country, which creates memories of a lifetime and plenty of laughs along the way.”
