NEW ZEALAND’S PREMIERE ADVENTURE RACE TO OPEN ENTRIES TOMORROW

Entries to Chapter 10 of GODZone open at 9am (NZT) tomorrow, with domestic and international teams lining up for a racing spot at the tenth anniversary of the prestigious adventure event.

The world’s largest expedition adventure race is once again returning to New Zealand’s South Island and will be hosted at an, as yet to be disclosed, destination. Race dates have been locked in for between the 3^rd and 12^th of March 2022.

To celebrate 10 incredible years of GODZone, the event organisers have indicated that the event will have a true expedition format. Competitors who are fast enough to secure a team spot on the 1^st of July, when entries open, will travel from one remote coastline of New Zealand to another. They will be rewarded with a highly diverse, wild and challenging journey across the South Island. As a hat tip to GODZone’s iconic predecessor event and, in light of the linear nature of the course, Chapter 10 will be collectively referred to as “A Southern Traverse” edition.

GODZone Race Director Warren Bates says the South Island is always a spectacular region to race through but, the chance to do something really significant was too good an opportunity to miss for Chapter 10 of the event.

“ GODZone has become one of the most influential adventure racing events globally and each Chapter attracts teams from all over the globe to experience something uniquely testing. The lure of teaming up with three mates and giving it a crack seems to get stronger and stronger as time goes by. There is no doubt that this Southern Traverse edition will give competitors something to remember. A fitting bookend to 10 amazing Chapters.

“ We’ve had a huge amount of interest from teams. Some new, some very young, some back from the early days of the sport and definitely possessing a legendary status. Some who are super experienced and some who will be taking on the event for the very first time. Domestic teams are clearly eager to explore their own backyard again and international teams are keen to get travelling to this adventure mecca.

“ There are only so many teams we can accommodate at the race, so it’s first come, first served and the best of luck to those who are successful in gaining a racing spot. The South Island is going to serve up another spectacular Adventure Like No Other. ”
