Torpedo 7 have crossed the GODZone Chapter Five line in third place after four days, four hours and 47 minutes.

The team of Richard Anderson, Simon Bowden, Bob McLachlan and Jo Williams arrived back at Kaiteriteri at 3.47pm.

The team battled back from 13th place to overtake a number of teams and come in third.

Richard said: “It was a long week and we were under pressure all week especially when we dropped back to 13th but we fought our way back. These guys just lifted their game and took off. It was just amazing.”

Bob added: “We gave them a couple of chances to come back didn’t we?”

The team lost their bearsings on Conical Hill, trying a few times to get down a ridge before finding the route.

Richard said: “We didn’t know we were that far down and pushed down further, thinking we were on a new track that wasn’t on the map. But we went back up the ridge and found our position and carried on.”

The team said they enjoyed the route, but wished the weather had been better when they were up the Red Hills so they could see the scenery.

Richard said: “That was probably the most difficult course you guys have set so far.”
