For Team Loose Moose its been a stressful couple of hours after dropping both their passports into a deep sump full of dirty water inside the Clifton Caves. After spending quite some time diving under the murk unsuccessfully looking for them the team travelled through the caves (due to coldness/safety factor) and notified race management. They were told to continue on to TA2 where they will be handed their penalty. The race committee referee says a 2-hour penalty will be served at CP16 – outside with no access to the Waitutu Lodge. This will be at the end of the Wairaurahiri River packraft on Stage 3 so that it cannot be absorbed into the dark zone on the river.
