More than 44 teams still out on GODZone course
Thursday 7th April 2016
While the top five finishers in the GODZone Expedition are enjoying their second night sleeping in a real bed, more than 44 teams of the original field of 61 are still out on course.
Race Director Warren Bates says its an amazingly good response to the course by many teams who are either new to the sport or only just stepping up to the multi day race.
“There is some exceptional racing going on by these teams – many of whom are trekking down from Mt Owen over night tonight and some who are riding up Takaka Hill towards Golden Bay. We have 7 teams who have been short coursed and are now racing on the Pursuit course which has grown from 10 at the start line to 13 teams.”
Bates says given the tough weather conditions and technical nature of the course its exceptional to see so many teams still on the course determined to finish.
