Its like hot bedding except its hot kayaking for team Rebelfood who have been travelling as an unranked 3 person team since Richard Ussher had to retire on Day 2 with a nasty chest infection. Its resulted in different friends subbing in for each kayak leg….firstly 9 x Coast to Coast winner Steve Gurney stepped in for the upper Shotover River canoe in Skippers Canyon. Then 2 x Pioneer winner and champion mountain biker Mark Williams stepped in for the kayak on Lake Wakatipu. And now local Queenstown adventure racer Baz Smith is preparing to join the team at Kingston for the paddle home sometime in the next 24 hours.
