A couple of big rapids on the lower Waiau River will wake teams up as the early morning paddle gets underway towards TA1. After being held off the river last night due to low conditions, its a fresh start for most of the GODZone field who banked some good sleep at Kollats Crib and beside the Monowai River.
The leading pack are already paddling hard and fast with teams with Swordfox leading the bunch followed by Torpedo 7, Yealands Family Wines, Tiki Tour, Bendracing Yogaslackers, Bendracing Fear Society, The Slow Twitchers, Avaya, Ataraxia and Rogue 4.
Safety office Michel Le Page says everyone is buzzing to be back on the water.
“The sleep has refreshed them and the teams are stoked. It’s going to be an awesome day of paddling with a couple of big rapids to get them excited. The weather conditions are very good and this will help the pace of racing alot.”
