Doing it for the Food

Team ‘For the Food’ plan to remain friends and have the best time possible whilst racing GODZone as a Pursuit team.
Lucie Stanley, Sophie Wigley, Beth Jagusch and Kim Oxford make up the Canterbury based team with three of the women working together at the Rangiora Vet Centre.
Beth says they are all stoked to have a spot at GODZone Chapter 8.
“Lucie and I meet when we were training for the Coast to Coast and then we did GZ Pure together with two guys in Queenstown for Chapter 6. She wrangled me into doing this and it was a real challenge the first time to complete the full Pure course. This time it will be different doing it as all female on an equal playing field.”
“It’s still going to be ridiculously hard but enjoyable. We have a great support crew and our plan is to do the whole course having fun, not getting lost.”
Team mate Sophie Wigley agrees.
“Lucie entered us as a team then roped me in saying don’t panic but I’ve entered us. I feel a bit nervous and only got into multisport last year so am relatively new to it but love it. The opportunity to get out and see the landscape and take time to be immersed within it is awesome.”
The teams name alludes to eating good food along the way and Sophie says race favourites include Nutella and boiled eggs – just not mixed together.
“We see being an all-female team as an advantage and our outlook is to get through it together.”
