WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT AS TEAMS GET INTO THE THICK OF IT

By Annabelle Latz

By the looks of the tracker, Team 20, New World St Martins Freedor, have had a bit of a kip overnight at Waitutu Lodge, before taking off from CP16 on the south coast this morning.
The Christchurch based team, of which three members are first time GODZoners, were in great spirits, ‘fit and healthy, ready to go,’ on the start line on Thursday, with their youngest member, Olivia Spencer Bower, sharing a thought or two.
“It’ll be an incredible experience, all the training coming through, the adventures,” she said.
As a former New Zealand Canoe Polo representative, there’s no doubt that this young gun was looking forward to the water sections.
“I’m excited that every second stage will be a boat stage…. Now it’s just a matter of seeing what we can do, it’s unchartered territory for so many of us, but it’s bloody exciting and we’ve got an awesome dynamic in our team.”
They’ve had great support along the way too, with warming words of encouragement posted on the website.
“Hi dad, I’m really proud of you, from Finn love you.”
“Hi dad I spoke about you doing GODZone at school today. From Connor, love you.”

We’re really getting into the thick of Chapter Seven now, and these posted comments are great, keep them coming all you supporters out there!
